TCU closed out its non-conference schedule unscathed, rolling past North Carolina, Abilene Christian, and SMU to earn the 24th spot in this week’s AP Poll. But the stakes rise sharply this week, as the Horned Frogs travel to Tempe on Friday night to take on Arizona State (3-1, 1-0).

TCU cracked the national rankings after last week’s 35-24 victory over SMU, giving the Horned Frogs some serious momentum heading into conference play. Arizona State, meanwhile, saw its lofty No. 10 ranking tumble after a road loss to Mississippi State, knocking the Sun Devils out of the top 25.

ASU will be looking to keep its home-field dominance alive, aiming for an eighth consecutive victory at Mountain America Stadium. The streak stretches back to last season, when the Sun Devils went a perfect 5-0 on their own turf.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch the TCU vs Arizona State NCAAF game, plus plenty more.

TCU vs Arizona State team news & key players

TCU Horned Frogs team news

TCU’s Josh Hoover came alive last week, throwing for a career-high five touchdowns in the Horned Frogs’ 35-24 victory over SMU. He finished 22-of-40 for 379 yards but did toss one costly interception.

Despite the big numbers, coach Sonny Dykes wasn’t exactly celebrating. He pointed to discipline issues, including Hoover’s end-zone interception that cut short a promising drive from the SMU 17 while TCU led 14-10 late in the first half. Penalties also plagued the Frogs—they were flagged nine times for 65 yards, extending several Mustang possessions and putting unnecessary pressure on the defense.

The silver lining? Hoover has a lethal connection with Eric McAlister, which will be on full display against Arizona State’s Leavitt-to-Tyson duo. McAlister had a monster outing against SMU, hauling in eight passes for a career-best 254 yards and three scores, cementing himself as Hoover’s top target and one of the Big 12’s most dangerous receiving threats.

Arizona State Sun Devils team news

Arizona State kicked off its conference slate with a thrilling 27-24 road win over Baylor, fueled by the dynamic duo of Sam Leavitt and Jordyn Tyson and capped by a clutch 43-yard game-winning field goal from Jesus Gomez. Leavitt targeted Tyson seven times for 43 yards and a touchdown, finishing the night 22-of-32 for 221 yards without throwing an interception. His 19-yard touchdown pass to Tyson with 5:29 left put the Sun Devils ahead 24-17, but Baylor responded with a quick score of its own. Leavitt calmly led an 11-play, 49-yard drive in the final 1:52, setting up Gomez’s walk-off kick as time expired.

The Sun Devils totaled 400 yards on the evening, just shy of their 406-yard per-game average. Leavitt added 62 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown, while Raleek Brown contributed 80 yards on 21 carries. Even with the win, coach Kenny Dillingham hinted that the team still has room to improve, signaling that Arizona State isn’t entirely satisfied with its performance.
