Vancouver Canucks vs Edmonton Oilers Team News & Key Leaders
Vancouver Canucks
Thatcher Demko may have skated with his teammates ahead of Game 6 on Saturday, but he won’t be playing in Game 7 Monday, according to Canucks head coach Rick Tocchet.
The Canucks had only 15 shots in Game 6, even though Edmonton had their backs against wall. Unfortunately, their offence was ineffective, and they were unable to create many scoring opportunities. It did not help that they missed all four powerplay opportunities.
J.T. Miller and Brock Boeser have combined for ten goals and 14 assists in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. However, they were quiet in Game 6. Elias Lindholm has five goals and four assists. Quinn Hughes has nine assists.
The Canucks simply were not good on defense either. Despite leveling 39 hits and blocking 17 shots, there were simply too many chances for the Oilers to rack up. Edmonton also found too many tempting rebounds. Arthurs Silovs hopes to bounce back after conceding five goals. Currently, he is 2-1 with a 2.02 GAA and a save percentage of .898.
Edmonton Oilers
The Oilers finally discovered their Golden scoring touch, and it was fantastic. Amazingly, everything worked out for them since they established puck control and were able to fire the puck. The Oilers took 27 shots and scored five goals. Ultimately, it all worked out in Game 6, and they aim to carry that momentum into Game 7.
Leon Draisaitl remains one of the best players in the world with eight goals and 15 assists. Connor McDavid has two goals and 19 assists, including one powerplay marker. Now, he hopes to carry the Oilers on his back and lead the charge for a big Game 7 victory on the road.
Goaltender Stuart Skinner made 14 saves for the Oilers, who outshot the Canucks 27-15, in the win. He's likely to be in between the pipes for this contest as well.
