Colorado Avalanche vs Winnipeg Jets Team News & Key Leaders
Colorado Avalanche
LW Jonathan Drouin has been ruled out for the Avalanche and is slated to return on May 5. D Samuel Girard, G Justus Annunen, C Maros Jedlicka, and LW Miles Wood are all day-to-day, but there's hope the quartet will be fit for Game 3.
The Avalanche averaged 3.68 goals per game in the regular season, and their offence has stepped up in this series, scoring 11 goals in the opening two games.
Nathan MacKinnon, Artturi Lehkonen and Mikko Rantanen have led the top two lines with four goals and eight assists combined, while Miles Wood, Valeri Nichushkin, and Ross Colton have combined for four goals and two assists. Defenseman Cale Makar has chipped in with a goal and four assists from the point to propel their offense.
Goaltender Alexandar Georgiev redeemed himself after a rough Game 1, where he allowed seven goals on just 23 shots. In Game 2 he conceded just twice from 30 shots. If he can continue to perform well, the Avalanche have a great chance to to take a lead in the series.
Winnipeg Jets
C Morgan Barron is out for the Jets through injury and won't return before Game 4. LW Kyle Connor, C Vladislav Namestnikov, C Mark Scheifele and C Adam Lowry are all day-to-day but are expected to be back in time for this one.
Winnipeg could insert defenseman Nate Schmidt into the lineup. The Jets have struggled to move the puck, and coach Rick Bowness lamented shot opportunities that were passed up. Schmidt could help at both ends.
Connor has two goals and two assists so far in the playoffs. Mark Scheiefele has also stepped up with two goals and two assists. Adam Lowry also has a brace to his name.
Goalie Connor Hellebuyck needs to find his regular-season consistency between the pipes. So far, Hellebuyck has allowed ten goals from 77 shots in the playoffs. That is good for a .870 save percentage.
