Las Vegas Aces star A’ja Wilson has been crowned the 2025 Kia WNBA Most Valuable Player, the league confirmed on Sunday.

It's a historic milestone for Wilson, who now owns a record four MVP trophies, including back-to-back honors after last year's win. She previously secured the award in 2020 and 2022, and with this triumph, she becomes the first player in WNBA history to reach four MVP titles, moving past three-time winners Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, and Lauren Jackson.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Wilson's dominance was reflected in the voting, as she captured 51 of 72 first-place votes along with 21 second-place selections, finishing with a commanding 657 total points in the media poll.

Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx finished runner-up in the MVP race with 534 points, while Phoenix Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas secured third place with 391 points. Allisha Gray of the Atlanta Dream followed in fourth on 180 points, and Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell rounded out the top five with 93 points. Voting allocated 10 points for first-place, seven for second, five for third, three for fourth, and one for fifth selections.

Now in her eighth WNBA campaign, A’ja Wilson put together one of the most dominant all-around seasons of her career. She averaged 23.4 points, 10.2 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 2.3 blocks, and 1.6 steals across 40 games, all near career-high marks. Wilson not only topped the league in scoring and shot-blocking, but also propelled the Aces to a blistering finish—winning their last 16 regular-season contests to clinch the No. 2 playoff seed.

    WHAT NEXT FOR ACES?

Though her stats dipped slightly from last year, A’ja Wilson has remained the driving force behind the Aces’ climb to second place and a secure playoff berth.

In the quarterfinals, the reigning MVP delivered consistently, averaging 9.3 points and 8.7 rebounds against the Seattle Storm, who halted Las Vegas’ 16-game unbeaten run by pushing the series to a decisive third contest. Up next, the Aces gear up for a best-of-five showdown with the Indiana Fever this Sunday at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
