  • WHAT HAPPENED?

Veteran frontman Fletcher remains on the books at SToK Racecourse after signing a 12-month contract extension. His vast experience helped the Red Dragons to promotion out of League Two last season, with a meteoric rise under Hollywood co-owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney continuing.

    WHAT FLETCHER SAID

Wrexham are up and running in League One and are now preparing for a trip to Bramall Lane in the first round of the Carabao Cup. Ex-Sheffield Wednesday star Fletcher is unlikely to be the most popular player on show, but expects to share any terrace taunts with a club colleague. Fletcher has said: “It will be a good game. I don't think I will be the most liked person having played for Sheffield Wednesday but that doesn't bother me at all. James McClean will get more pelters than me so I am alright!”

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Fletcher opened his goal account for 2024-25 in a season-opening 3-2 win over Wycombe and has now found the target in all four divisions of the English Football League. The former Burnley, Wolves, Sunderland and Stoke frontman added on that achievement: “I have scored in every league now which is good. It was my first appearance in League One so I have played in every league and scored in every league in England which is a nice little milestone for myself.”

    WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?

Fletcher registered eight goals last season, as Wrexham bounced straight through the fourth tier on the back of a National League title triumph. More money has been invested by Reynolds and McElhenney this summer in ensuring that Phil Parkinson’s squad remains fiercely competitive.
