All completed Manchester United transfers so far in 2023-24 - listed

Erik ten Hag did a commendable job in his first season in charge of Manchester United, helping them finish in the top four, and secure Champions League qualification. Additionally, the former Ajax boss led the Red Devils to the Carabao Cup trophy, while also reaching the final of the FA Cup.

However, the first-half of the 2023/24 season was one of suffering for Manchester United fans. The Red Devils have largely underwhelmed in Ten Hag's second season in charge, languishing way below top-four contention, while also exiting all European competition and the Carabao Cup embarrassingly.

British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS' investment sealed a deal to buy 25 percent of the Red Devils' last month and now has control of football operations, including transfer dealings.

Although United were expected to do some wheeling and dealing in the winter window to overturn their fortunes, it hasn't been a busy one at Old Trafford because of stringent FFP restrictions. They have used the January market to clear the decks rather than new arrivals heading to the red side of Manchester.

With the winter transfer window almost drawing to a close, GOAL has got you covered with all the completed Manchester United transfers in the ongoing 2023-24 season, below.

    New signings summer window

Ten Hag openly expressed his desire to sign a goal-scoring forward ahead of the summer window. A new midfielder and goalkeeper were among his top priorities.

To that end, Rasmus Hojlund, their most expensive signing of the summer window, joined from Serie A side Atalanta after an impressive breakout season in Italy.

Mason Mount left Chelsea in favour of a move to Old Trafford that was worth up to £60 million ($76m), including add-ons. The Red Devils then sealed another big-money capture of Cameroonian ball-playing goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan as a direct replacement for the departed David de Gea. Veteran centre-back Jonny Evans also returned to the club on a short-term contract.

Key defensive midfield target Sofyan Amrabat completed a dramatic deadline day move to Old Trafford in a loan with an option to buy deal. The Red Devils paid a loan fee of around £8.5m, and have the option to sign the player outright for an additional £17.1m upon the expiration of his loan.

Elsewhere, goalkeeper Altay Bayindir and Sergio Reguilon (on loan from Tottenham) both completed their moves to join the club earlier on deadline day.

    Departures summer window

A number of fringe and young players left Old Trafford during the summer window. Spanish goalkeeper David de Gea also bid farewell after a legendary 12-year career with the Red Devils.

After five years at the club, midfielder Fred left for Fenerbahce, while left-back Alex Telles finalised a permanent switch to Al-Nassr. A permanent move was also agreed for academy graduate Anthony Elanga to transfer to Nottingham Forest, which brought in a sizable sum of money. Meanwhile, La Liga side Getafe secured the loan signing of Mason Greenwood on deadline day.

All in all, United sold over £50m worth of talent this past summer and managed to offload a lot of fringe players who were sitting on pretty big wages.

    New signings January window

After being backed to the tune of around £170 million in the summer, Erik ten Hag knew that bolstering his squad with real quality mid-way through the season was always unlikely.

That hasn't prevented a flurry of names being linked with United, though, including Premier League old boys Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, Martin Braithwaite, and Timo Werner as they were supposedly in the market for a new forward to provide competition - and rest - for Rasmus Hojlund.

However, it was been an extremely quiet window at Old Trafford, with no new incomings at the time of writing.

    Departures January window

Jadon Sancho returned to his former side Borussia Dortmund for the rest of the season, with United eager for the winger to find form and build his confidence after a tough spell at the club.

Midfield flop Donny van de Beek joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan, while a break clause was exercised to return emergency loan signing Sergio Reguilon to parent club Tottenham. Youngsters Hannibal Mejbri, Facundo Pellistri, Alvaro Carreras, and Daniel Gore have all been sent out on loan to gain vital first-team experience.
