    WHAT HAPPENED?

Tottenham dropped to 10th in the Premier League as their inconsistent start to the season continued on Sunday. Postecoglou's side fell to a 2-1 loss against relegation-battling Ipswich Town after first-half goals from Sammie Szmodics and Liam Delap.

  • THE BIGGER PICTURE

Postecoglou's job has been on the line over the last few weeks due to Tottenham's struggles to get results, and their flaws have become glaringly apparent. The Australian has now opened up his side's inconsistency after Spurs followed up their statement 4-1 win over Aston Villa with losses against Galatasaray and Ipswich.

    WHAT POSTECOGLOU SAID

Speaking to BBC Sport, Postecoglou said: "Hugely disappointing. We started slow and passively. We gave ourselves a mountain to climb. Second half we had chances but didn’t do enough to win the game. It's just down to me. I’m not getting consistent performances from the players. It’s something I need to address. I’m the person in charge so that’s usually the way it goes. I take responsibility. We can’t give ourselves those kind of mountains to climb."

  • DID YOU KNOW?

During Tottenham's loss to Ipswich, a number of players from the visiting side looked to go down in need of treatment as they tried to wind down the clock. As such, Postecoglou criticised the time wasting but said it was something for the officials to sort out.

"It seems to be the way the Premier League is going. Clubs are taking strategic time-outs. We just have to cop it. It’s up to the officials, not me," he said.

  • WHAT NEXT FOR TOTTENHAM?

Postecoglou will be able to take a breather and rework his tactics over the next two weeks during the international break, and he will hope to see an improvement when Tottenham return to action against Manchester City on November 23.
