Illinois State could cap off its incredible cinderella run by defeating Montana State in tonight’s FCS Championship Game in Nashville (ESPN). However, Montana State, which reached the Championship Game last season, is on a 13-game winning streak and is a 10.5-point favorite.
Still, Illinois State managed four playoff wins on the road to reach this stage and defeated previously-unbeaten North Dakota State in the second round as a 23.5-point underdog. It looks like injured Montana State safety Caden Dowler will play, which boosts the Bobcats’ chances.
Montana State ranks ninth in the FCS in yards per play and 11th in opponent yards per play. Meanwhile, Illinois State is outside of the top 50 in both stats, but has allowed just 19 points per game in the playoff.
Expect a lower-scoring game than the total implies and take under 56.5 points (-105) tonight.
