Yiadom in high spirits ahead of Barnsley's Championship decider

Barnsley captain Andy Yiadom is eyeing three points in Sunday's English Championship visit to Derby County in order to boost their relegation fight.

Ahead of the final round of games, the Tykes dangerously sit 21st on the league table, only one spot above the drop zone.

A current point tie with relegation-trapped Burton Albion accentuates the precarious situation of Jose Morais' outfit.

“I’ve not been looking at the top of the table,” Yiadom said, as reported by his club's official website.

“At this time of the season, form goes out of the window.

“We’ve just got to get three points and that’s what we’re going to try and do on Sunday.”

Barnsley's current position out of the relegation zone came only on Saturday.

Playing at home to Brentford, Kieffer Moore and Oli McBurnie scored to seal a valuable 2-0 triumph.

“It was a massive win,” Yiadom said.

“We went into the game knowing that we needed three points, and that a point or a loss wouldn’t really be good enough.

“We tried our best to get at them and put some pressure on them and I think, overall, we did that.

"We went and got the three points, which is massive.”

Yiadom has been crucial to Barnsley's Championship battle this season, having made 31 appearances involving 30 starts.

Rumours say the 26-year-old will leave in the summer, regardless of the outcome of Sunday's match.
