New Chelsea signing Liam Delap has been tipped to emulate one of the club's most famous partnership alongside fellow Blues forward Cole Palmer.

A former Chelsea star has hit out at Cole Palmer's critics and believes the England ace will "blossom again" alongside new signing Liam Delap.

Chelsea have already recovered the £30 million ($40m) transfer fee they spent to sign Liam Delap from Ipswich Town by progressing to the round of 16 of the Club World Cup. The Blues finished second in their group, behind Flamengo, with six points from three matches and reached the knockout stage, where they will now lock horns against Portuguese giants Benfica.

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has revealed the club's massive expectations on new arrivals Liam Delap and Joao Pedro. The Blues signed Delap from Ipswich Town just before the Club World Cup, while Pedro sealed a transfer to Stamford Bridge from Brighton earlier this week. Colwill is currently in the US with the Blues squad who have progressed to the quarter-final of the competition.
