'Mauricio Pochettino has a lot to teach us' - USMNT midfielder Yunus Musah looking forward to what reported new coach will bring to team

U.S. Soccer is reportedly nearing the hiring of Mauricio Pochettino, although hurdles still remain due to the circumstances of the coach's departure from Chelsea earlier this year. Pochettino is set to take over following Gregg Berhalter's departure in the wake of the USMNT's Copa America exit.

Yunus Musah was asked about Pochettino's imminent arrival and the AC Milan midfielder believes the coach has a lot he can bring to the team as they build towards the 2026 World Cup.

"It was nice to see that a manager like Pochettino, who has coached a lot of top teams, agreed to coach us," Musah said on "Morning Footy" on the CBS Golazo Network. “I feel like he will be able to help a lot. He is a manager that has worked with top players, he definitely has a lot of things to teach us.”

"Us as well," Musah added. "We'll have the same guys so we need to take accountability as well. At the end of the day, whatever manager comes in, we have to also push on."

Musah is the second USMNT star to speak out about Pochettino's hiring, with Antonee Robinson saying that there will be an adjustment phase for all involved. There won't be too much time for that, though, with less than two years remaining until the World Cup kicks off.

"He’s a very good manager, so I’ll be interested to see obviously how he comes in," Robinson told NBC Sports in a postgame interview. "How he gets used to the boys. How we get used to him. It’s a fresh start now.

"Obviously eyes are going to be on the World Cup and he’s got two years to get the best out of us that we can and we got to give it everything for him, so that he can be successful with us."

The U.S. is set to face Canada and New Zealand in a pair of September friendlies, their first post-Copa America. It remains to be seen who will be coaching those matches, with reports saying U.S. U-20 head coach Mikey Varas could take charge on an interim basis.

U.S. Soccer, though, has reportedly stepped in to work with Chelsea and expedite the Pochettino hiring process, would could lead to the Argentine himself being involved in time for those two matches.
