The end for USMNT star Gio Reyna at Borussia Dortmund?! Bundesliga side close to agreeing loan deal for Man Utd outcast Jadon Sancho which could push midfielder out of picture

Various reports, including from Bild, broke Tuesday morning that suggested Sancho and Dortmund were in talks over reuniting, with the United outcast set to return to the club where he announced his name on the global stage. However, with Sancho occupying the same attacking midfield role that Reyna does, it could spell the end for the USMNT star, who likely needs to leave the German side in January.

Reyna is already behind both Julian Brandt and Marco Reus in the Dortmund pecking order, and with Sancho arriving, his playing time could be further limited. The 21-year-old American may now push for a permanent transfer or a loan away from Dortmund as he looks to secure his international place ahead of this spring's Nations League semifinals and the 2024 Copa America with the USMNT. An exit could revive his club career and show his international boss that he has ambitions to be in the starting XI.

Sancho has more recently scored a goal at Old Trafford than Marcus Rashford, Antony and Anthony Martial. He netted a winner against Fulham on May 28, 2023.

Dortmund are not back in action until January 13 and Reyna could look to push for a move away from the club before then. For Sancho, who is set to return to Signal Iduna Park, it's a chance for a career revival and an escape from his messy situation at Old Trafford.
