The Serie A clash this Saturday evening, part of the 29th round of the league, between Udinese and Juventus is already in full swing at the Bluenergy Stadium in Udine. The match has been a tight affair in the opening minutes, with both sides sizing each other up without immediately stepping on the gas, prioritising tactical play and build-up first.

    From the very first whistle of the match against Juventus, the Udinese fans at the Bluenergy Stadium immediately turned on the Bianconeri manager, Luciano Spalletti, chanting something which, out of respect, we shall not repeat, but which we shall imply with a few ellipses.

    The Friuli fans directed their chants at the coach, a native of Certaldo, singing: “Spalletti, you piece of s***”. The reference is quite clear.

  • A MATCH AGAINST HIS FORMER CLUB FOR SPALLETTI

    It is worth noting that this marks a return to Udine for Luciano Spalletti, where he managed Udinese from July 2002 until the end of the 2004/2005 season. During his three years in Friuli, he oversaw 122 matches from the Bianconeri’s dugout, achieving an average of 1.57 points per game.

    In Udine, Spalletti guided Udinese to a 6th-place finish in his first year (securing qualification for the then UEFA Cup), a 7th-place finish the following year, and an extraordinary 4th-place finish and entry into the Champions League play-offs in his final season (as well as reaching the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia).
