    WHAT HAPPENED?

Website FootyHeadlines.Comhave leaked the new 2024 kits that are set to be used in this Summer's Copa America and Paris Olympic Games, with the Home and Away slate branching out from previous kits. They'll replace both shirts that U.S. Soccer used at the 2022 and 2023 World Cups.

According to the leak, the shirts will be available for purchase starting March 21 - meaning the USMNT may even be wearing them in the Concacaf Nations League semifinals that evening.

    WHAT THE FANS ARE SAYING

@topw22 cracked a joke at the away kit, describing it as "A Pepsi can in reverse."

@_LeslieJ is not fond of the new designs - or the prices of them - saying that "Jerseys are getting expensive but luckily they are ugly so that makes it okay."

@FletchTopper had a different look, saying they were their "favorite since the (2016) Centennial kit."

@WichitaChiefSam followed up by sharing "they're the best U.S. Soccer kits in years."

@KarstenS_02 however, was a harsh critic aimed at Nike and their design specifically for U.S. kits, saying "This Nike usmnt run recently is an all time stinker 😭."

  • WHAT THE PUNDITS/CLUBS/PLAYERS/MANAGERS ARE SAYING

U.S. Soccer writer Charles Boehm poked a cheeky joke at the design of the away kit, while also taking a shot at the ever-growing prices of tickets to watching USA matches. "Love the idea of incorporating #dataviz here - as you can see this is a graph of USMNT ticket prices in the 20th century."

Sporting News writer Kyle Bonn described it as "So close to being absolutely fantastic."

Meanwhile, ex-USMNT star and ESPN pundit Herculez Gomez posted on X asking his following if the kits were "Dripping or Tripping."

Lastly, Concacaf soccer podcaster Edgar Moreno shared that he thinks "they're better than the World Cup ones."

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

U.S. Soccer has been heavily criticized over the past few years for their kit designs with sporting retailer Nike, who have - in the eyes of fans - produced better-looking kits for other countries on the international stage in comparison. The 2022 Men's FIFA World Cup kits were the center of controversy especially, as the excitement surrounding the best USA squad ever was drowned out by what were seemingly bland shirts.

Heading into 2024, it appears U.S. Soccer and Nike have tried to be a bit more ambitious with their design, while also honing in on the American aspect of the kit. With USA flag accents on the Away kit and USA tie-dye colors on the home shirt, they've gone down a different route than 2022-23.

WHAT NEXT FOR THE USMNT AND USWNT?

The USWNT are currently competing in the Concacaf Women's Gold Cup and are set to take on Colombia Sunday evening in the quarterfinals of the tournament. The USMNT, meanwhile, are preparing for their March 21 clash against Jamaica in the Concacaf Nations League semifinals.
