Trent Alexander-Arnold sends first message to new Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso as he risks irking Liverpool fans after long-awaited free transfer

Alexander-Arnold commented on Real's post celebrating his and Alonso's arrival, writing "El Jefe", meaning 'the boss' in Spanish. The full-back also changed his bio to reference Real Madrid instead of Liverpool, risking the wrath of Reds fans who are unhappy he has run down his contract to make the move.

Alexander-Arnold completed his move to Real this week, with the club reportedly paying £10 million ($13m) to sign him in time to play in the Club World Cup next month. He will be in contention for the competition, which begins for his new side against Al-Hilal on June 18.

Alexander-Arnold was booed by Liverpool fans in his first appearance for the club after announcing he would be leaving, though he did leave on a high by lifting the Premier League title after his final match, when he was also given a warm reception off the bench.

Alexander-Arnold has also been selected by Thomas Tuchel for next month's England internationals against Andorra and Senegal, which he will feature in before heading to USA for the Club World Cup.
