Rihanna at Prenton Park? Rapper A$AP Rocky set to press forward with sensational Tranmere takeover to rival Ryan Reynolds & Rob McElhenney at Wrexham after being found not guilty of assault

The American rapper was found not guilty of shooting a former collaborator in Los Angeles in 2021. He was extremely emotional when the verdict was given in court in LA, jumping up and hugging his team, family members, and his partner Rihanna. And following that decision, A$AP Rocky and his consortium of investors have re-emerged as favourites to buy a majority stake in League Two club Tranmere Rovers after being linked with a potential takeover last autumn.

Rumours of A$AP Rocky's interest in buying Tranmere first emerged last year, when it was reported that Rihanna's long-term partner was looking to take control of the EFL outfit alongside a group of other investors. It's thought that the musician's consortium are aiming to acquire an 80% stake in the club for roughly £15m, while minority owners the Santini Group, based in Indonesia, would retain their own small share.

A$AP Rocky was in court faced with two felony counts of assault relating to use of a semi-automatic weapon in a 2021 altercation with fellow hip-hop artist Terell Ephron in Hollywood, according to the Daily Mail. After his acquittal, the 36-year-old thanked the jury for "saving my life", while Rihanna wrote on Instagram: "The glory belongs to God and to God alone."

Reports suggest the 'Praise The Lord' rapper will now push ahead with his bid to buy Tranmere, who are currently in the midst of a relegation battle at the bottom of League Two and face a trip to high-flying Notts County at the weekend. If the Merseyside club does go down, regaining league status won't be easy, although Wrexham owners Rob McElhenney and Reynolds have already set the blueprint for how Hollywood stars can achieve National League promotion.
