Mexico star Edson Alvarez desperately wants Ajax exit after captain Dusan Tadic's shock departure

The departure of Dusan Tadic has caused unrest at Ajax and Alvarez, Mohammed Kudus and Davy Klaassen are now desperate to follow in his footsteps and also leave the club, De Telegraaf reports.

Tadic had his contract terminated prematurely after voicing his dismay with the club's transfer activity after an underwhelming 2022-23 campaign.

Ajax had to settle for third place in the Eredivisie table last term and have only signed Branco van den Boomen and Benjamin Tahirovic so far, while losing star defender Jurrien Timber to Arsenal.

Alvarez was believed to be close to joining Borussia Dortmund earlier this transfer window, but the move eventually collapsed.

The 25-year-old has also been linked with Bayern Munich, but West Ham United now appear to be the favourites to land the holding midfielder.

West Ham are keen to bring in a replacement for Declan Rice following his transfer to Arsenal.

It's not the first time that the former America man has set his sights on a move away from Ajax.

Alvarez was being linked with Rennes back in August 2021, while Chelsea tabled a big-money offer on deadline day of the 2022 summer transfer window.

The midfielder's contract in Amsterdam runs until June 2025 and he is being valued at $45 million (£35m).

Alvarez has won two Eredivisie titles and one KNVB Beker during his time with Ajax.

He has made close to 100 league appearances for the Amsterdam giants since joining them in 2019.

The Mexico ace was initially brought in to succeed Matthijs de Ligt at centre-back, but he was quickly moved into midfield after struggling to find his feet in defence.
