Messi mania has gripped the US ever since the World Cup winner joined Inter Miami last year, and the fanfare surrounding the Argentina star doesn't look set to slow down any time soon. As he arrived off the bus in Boston ahead of his side's upcoming MLS fixture against the Revs, he was greeted by legions of fans chanting 'Messi' and holding up shirts, to whom he gave a smile and a wave.

Despite a few niggling injuries brought on by the club's globe-trotting exploits, Messi has consistently impressed in the stylish pink shirt of Inter Miami. The 36-year-old's record so far is remarkable, with 20 goals and assists recorded in just 23 matches.

Those following Messi's every move in the US will have been delighted to hear him talk about his desire to continue playing in a recent interview. “I know that as soon as I believe that I can no longer perform, or no longer enjoy the game, or am not able to help my team-mates, then I will stop,” he told the Big Time podcast. “For my retirement, it will not matter what age I am. If I feel good, I will keep playing.”

The latest challenge in Messi's MLS adventure will see Inter take on New England Revolution on Saturday at 7.30pm ET. The home side are bottom of the league, so the league-leading visitors will be expecting to take all three points.
