Inter and Rozzano: what’s going on? No stadium – here’s what the site will be used for

Inter will have a new stadium to be built in the San Siro area, which they will share with Milan.

The news has been known for some time, whilst it has now become public knowledge what will happen to the Rozzano site, previously earmarked by Inter for the construction of a new stadium on their own: the Cabassi family is considering a new alternative – the development of a residential area on the land they own – as reported by Calcio&Finanza.

  • THE IDEA

The plan is outlined in the latest financial statements as at 31 December 2025 of Brioschi, a company belonging to the Cabassi family group, as revealed by Calcio&Finanza: "In the property sector, with regard to the Rozzano area (Milan), following the conclusion of the exclusive periods aimed at assessing the possible establishment of certain non-traditional facilities (a stadium and a data centre) in the southern part of the site, and in light of the strong market demand for housing in all its forms, it has been decided to commence preparatory work for the development of a new masterplan intended primarily for residential use".

  • WHAT HAD HAPPENED BEFORE

As was known prior to the joint acquisition with Milan of the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium and the surrounding areas, Inter had acquired the right (which was subsequently renewed and is due to expire in January 2025) to carry out a feasibility study into the construction of a stadium in that area.

The deal with the Nerazzurri did not go ahead, and this too led the club to consider the development of a new residential area.
