Finland star Topi Keskinen explains reason for bizarre Wayne Rooney tattoo showing Man Utd legend fishing

The 21-year-old sports a bizarre tattoo depicting the former England and Manchester United star fishing. Keskinen previously explained that the depiction combined two of his favourite things - United and fishing - but he has now offered more background.

Keskinen, who featured in Finland's 3-1 loss to England on Sunday, has revealed that he designed the tattoo himself and that it is in part an homage to his Everton-supporting mother and his favourite player of all time.

"My mum’s an Everton fan and Rooney played there and when he made a move to Manchester United, I started watching United games," he said. "He was like an idol to me on the field. I was watching his highlights in every game that he played in his career, so he’s my favourite player in my life. So, I tattooed him fishing, because I like fishing also. It’s my two favourite things combined in one tattoo."

Finland have lost all four of their Nations League matches in the current campaign, while England sit three points behind Greece. The Three Lions' next game is against the group leaders on November 14.
