Christian Eriksen clarifies concerns over heart problem as Man Utd midfielder confirms illness kept him out of loss to Tottenham

The Denmark international's absence in last weekend's 1-0 loss at Tottenham sparked fears about his heart condition, which has affected him since he collapsed during a Euro 2020 clash. Eriksen has been playing with a heart-starting device since resuming his career in the Premier League.

Ruben Amorim explained that the Red Devils are taking a careful approach with the 33-year-old and the ex-Spurs star has clarified that he was merely suffering from a virus in a reassuring update.

Eriksen wrote on an Instagram post: "I just wanted to thank everyone for the get well messages I've been receiving after missing the Spurs game. I picked up a virus like many people do at this time of year. Nothing serious and soon ready to get back to training."

It is unclear if Eriksen will be back in Amorim's squad for this weekend's Premier League clash against Everton, who have risen to 14th - a place and a point above United - since ex-Red Devils boss David Moyes returned to Goodison Park.
