Arsenal make Champions League history! Records tumble as Gunners smash seven past PSV despite striker struggles

Mikel Arteta's men scored a whopping seven goals against their Dutch hosts in the first leg of their last-16 tie. The 7-1 win made the Gunners the first away team in Champions League history to score as many goals in a knockout stage game.

Jurrien Timber, Ethan Nwaneri, Mikel Merino, Martin Odegaard, Leandro Trossard and Riccardo Calafiori were all on the scoresheet as the north London side ran rampant in the first leg.

"Massive performance, proud of the guys we showed we are capable of a lot and put ourselves in a good position for next week," Timber said to Amazon Prime after the game.

Declan Rice added: "We were fluid, enthusiasm, the drive and hunger in the knock out phase of the Champions League. But we've been playing like this all season."

Arsenal also claimed another record on Tuesday night as Myles Lewis-Skelly assisting Ethan Nwaneri is the first time two English teenagers have combined for a goal in the Champions League.

The Gunners are up against Manchester United in the Premier League in their next game, followed by the return leg against PSV on March 12.
