DraftKings Alberta Sportsbook Review for October 2026

About DraftKings

DraftKings is an American-based digital sports entertainment and gaming company founded in 2012 by three former Vistaprint employees; Jason Robins, Paul Liberman, and Matthew Kalish.

DraftKings is best known in sports betting circles for their native mobile app, which is consistently rated among the best in the region due to its clean layout and smooth navigation. The sportsbook also has a reputation for providing an extensive in-play betting section, filled with micro-betting markets as well as highly flexible Same Game Parlays.

As of July 13, 2026 DraftKings entered the regulated Alberta market. Customers over the age of 18 who are physically located within the province can use the site to bet on sports and play casino games.

Is DraftKings Legal in Alberta?

DraftKings has been fully legal and operational in the province of Alberta as of July 13, 2026, aligning with the official launch of Alberta's regulated, competitive iGaming market. Like all regulated sportsbooks, the site operates under a commercial agreement with Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC) and strict regulatory standards enforced by the Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis Commission (AGLC).

To legally place wagers at DraftKings Alberta bettors must be 18 years of age or older. While customers do not need to be permanent Alberta residents to use DraftKings, they must be physically located within provincial boundaries to place bets. DraftKings uses GeoComply software to verify location.

At the moment, only the DraftKings Sportsbook and Casino are available in Alberta. Daily fantasy sports is no longer available to Alberta-based players due to restrictions in player pools.

Online Sports Betting

As one of the largest online sports betting platforms in North America, DraftKings has the reputation for having one of the largest betting catalogs in the market. This includes both pre-match and live betting markets, giving bettors access to thousands of wagering opportunities on a daily basis.

Leagues & Betting Options

The DraftKings Sportsbook offers Canadian bettors the chance to place wagers on 35+ sports, covering everything from mainstream professional leagues to more niche international competitions. Some of the most popular leagues at DraftKings Alberta at the moment are: NBA, NFL, NHL and the English Premier League.

NBA

Basketball fans will be able to place bets on every single regular season and playoff game in the NBA at DraftKings. Most matchups are covered in their live betting section, giving the chance to wager on games which are already in progress.

Bet types available at the Sportsbook for the NBA include: Moneyline bets, Point Spreads, Over/Unders, Player/Team Props and Futures.

DraftKings is particularly known for their extensive list of player props, featuring over/under lines on player points, rebounds, assists and 3-pointers made. Defensive statistics like number of steals, blocks and turnovers are also available, along with combo markets and statistical milestones like double-doubles and triple-doubles.

One of the most popular NBA betting features at DraftKings Alberta is their Same Game Parlays. The brand’s signature SGP section allows users to combine NBA game lines and props from a single game onto a single bet slip to generate higher potential payouts.

If you’re planning on placing wagers early, the Futures section has a number of markets available months in advance to the start of the NBA regular season. This includes “Championship Winner”, winner of player awards like “MVP” and even Over/Under lines on a specific team's total regular-season wins.

NFL

NFL coverage at DraftKings Alberta is on par with any top sports betting operator in the province, offering a massive collection of weekly markets, Same Game Parlays and rapid live betting options.

Weekly NFL game lines include popular markets like Moneylines, Point Spreads, Over/Unders and Teasers. We also found a huge library of player props available, with over/unders on quarterback, running back and receiver statistics as well as defensive metrics like Sacks and Tackles.

Team and Game props give bettors the chance to bet on the winner of each quarter or half. Other popular team props include “Race to X Points” and “Highest Scoring Period”.

NFL futures are available year-round for markets like “Super Bowl Champion", Conference of Division Winners, Player Awards and Regular Season Win Totals.

NHL

DraftKings has complete NHL coverage over the entire 32-team league, including all Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames fixtures. You can find virtually every single major NHL bet type, including Moneylines, Puck Lines, Over/Unders, Player/Team Props, Futures and Live In-Play Betting.

The player props section has a wide range of options, such as  Anytime Goalscorer, Over/Under Shots on Goal (SOG), Total Points/Assists, or Goalie Saves. There are also loads of game props, like Winner of Each Period and Race to Markets, which allow you to bet on which team reaches a certain number of goals first.

NHL Futures are available year-round on the next Stanley Cup Champions, Conference and Division Winners and Regular Season Points Totals. You can also bet on Player Awards at the end of the season like the Hart Trophy (MVP), Rocket Richard (Top Goalscorer), or Norris Trophy (Top Defenseman).

English Premier League

Due to high popularity, the English Premier League has complete coverage at DraftKings in Alberta, giving natives the chance to wager on every single match. Standard bet types available include 3-Way Moneylines, Draw No Bet, Over/Unders, Asian Handicaps and BTTS (Both Teams to Score).

You can also find a large selection of player props like Goalscorers, Total Shots on Target, Total Passes, Tackles, or Assists. Over/Unders on Cards and Corners are also available and even wagers on specific players getting a card.

The Future section is open throughout the calendar year, offering the chance to wager on the EPL Winner, Top 4 Finish and Relegation. Long-term player awards like PFA Player of the Year & Golden Boot are also up for betting throughout the season.

Betting Odds

Based on our research, DraftKings offers highly competitive odds that rank near the top for bookmakers in the province. The site retains a relatively low vig or juice, ranging between 4-5% on popular American Leagues like the NBA, NFL, NHL and MLB. So for example, DraftKings might set a typical points spread with both sides at -110, whereas Play Alberta might have the same matchup at -115.

If you enjoy placing your bets well in advance of the sporting event, DraftKings usually has a wide range of “Futures” wagers available months before the start of important competitions. The odds tend to fluctuate a lot before the start of competitions, ideal for bettors looking to poach odds based on news.

The live betting section is one of this sportsbook's biggest strengths, offering up-to-the-second live odds. Due to the quick updates, micro-betting is very popular at DraftKings, allowing bettors to place wagers on the outcome of each play.

Early payout betting insurances can be claimed for wagers on select leagues, paying out your wager instantly when it hits a specific lead milestone, regardless of the final outcome of the game.

Examples:

• NBA: Your team goes up by 20 Points.
• MLB: Your team goes up by 2 Runs.
• NFL: Your team goes up by 2 touchdowns.

Live Betting & Streaming

Live in-play betting is available on a wide range of sports, including Baseball, Basketball, Hockey, Football, Soccer and Tennis. Live streaming is available particularly for NFL games but also eSports, Table Tennis and international soccer matches. DraftKings Alberta does not stream games for regional leagues like the NHL, NBA, or MLB.

The live betting section features up-to-the-second odds on spreads, moneylines, and player props based on the state of play. A special Flash Bet section is available, which is optimised on the DraftKings App to provide play-by-play micro-betting. This allows bettors to place wagers like, “Next Team to Score” or the result of the next possession.

There is also a Live Same Game Parlay tab for specific sports which allows you to string multiple live props and game lines together from a single game.

The live streams at DraftKings are generally HD quality, especially for NFL Betvision matchups. We found relatively few connectivity issues, but you may experience 15 to 30 second delays compared to actual real-time action. Streams are integrated into the live betting section of both the website and mobile app, making sure you don’t miss out on the action, even if you’re on-the-go.

For premium streams, such as NFL BetVision games, DraftKings requires that users place a cash or bonus bet on that specific matchup. International live streams require a “funded account” with a minimum balance greater than $0.00 for access.

DraftKings Mobile App

The DraftKings Mobile App is clearly one of the biggest selling points of the brand, available for free download on both iOS and Android devices. The app is consistently ranked amongst the top mobile applications in North America with an Apple Store and Google Play Store rating of 4.8/5.

One of the app's key strengths is its sleek and easy-to-navigate UI, which uses clean and intuitive menu layouts to make finding and placing bets extremely simple. The app also uses Two-Factor Authentication and Biometric Login to ensure the security of your account and strict geofencing to ensure users are within Alberta provincial boundaries.

Push notifications can be set up to get alerts when your bets are complete or favourite teams are available for wagering. Some other top app features we found include Live Streaming, Same Game Parlays and DK Replay.

The app makes payments easy with modern options like Interac and PayPal, offering users speedy payouts and deposits. The app uses a universal wallet which seamlessly switches balances between sportsbook and casino products.

To download and run the DraftKings App, your device must meet these minimum device specifications:

• Apple iOS: Requires iOS 15.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
• Android: Requires Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later. Compatible with smartphones and tablets.

Payment Methods

DraftKings gives Alberta-based users the ability to use a number of safe and convenient payment options to fund their betting account. Let’s take a look at the available options for both deposits and withdrawals.

Deposit Methods

Users can choose from eight payment options to deposit money into their DraftKings Alberta account. All deposit options are instant and don't come with any fees on the operator's side. The minimum deposit available is $5 CAD.

Compared to other top bookmakers in Alberta, DraftKings offers fewer deposit options. Sites such as bet365 offer Google Pay and Paysafecard and more,  as well as Wire Transfers.

Withdrawal Methods

Many of the options available for deposits can also be used to withdraw winnings from your betting account at DraftKings. Typical withdrawal times are between 12-24 hours based on the method used. There aren’t any fees charged on the side of the sportsbook for withdrawals.

Payout Speed

The typical payout speed at DraftKings for most payment options is in under 24 hours once your account is fully verified. Note that while internal approval typically takes less than a day, the actual time it takes for funds to reach you depends on your chosen banking method.

Cheques via mail can take between 3-14 business days to be delivered and Interac payments can take 1-3 business days to process. To withdraw funds using Interac e-Transfer or PayPal, you must use the same account to make a successful deposit of at least $5 first.

You will be able to view the live progress of your payment request at any time using the automated withdrawal tracker located inside your account profile settings. We recommend completing your KYC as early as possible to avoid delays in payouts.

Customer Support

Users can contact customer support at DraftKings Alberta using the following channels: Live Chat, Email, Phone Callback and Social Media. You can find support in both English and French.

Live chat support is available 24/7. The service starts off via an automated bot but can be transferred to a human agent if your problem isn’t solved.

Email support can be found at sportsbook@draftkings.com. Typical response times vary between 12-24 hours based on the number of inquiries.

Although DraftKings doesn’t have an inbound call number for phone inquiries, you can request a callback by leaving your registered phone number.

Based on our experience, we recommend trying out live chat if you’re looking for quick answers to account fixes, verification updates, or basic bet slip questions. For more complex inquiries and issues uploading documents, email support is preferred.

User Experience

User experience is taken very seriously at DraftKings as they attempt to optimise the player betting experience. Some of the main features they look out for include:

Ease of Use

A key strength of DraftKings' user interface is its simplicity and ease of navigation. You can register using either the mobile app or browser-based site and complete KYC validation within a matter of minutes.

A search function is available, allowing bettors to find specific teams or betting markets without having to comb through entire sections. After you place your bets, you can find them in the “My Bets” section for quick reference.

Managing Your Account

Users can customize their betting account to their liking using the “Preferences” section. Some personalizations you can try out include:

• Changing Odds Format: Swap the odds presentation for betting markets between American, Decimal and Fractional.
• Default Bet Amount: Create a default unit size for your bets, automatically filling your bet slips for one-tap wagering.
• App Notifications: Get alerts for real-time score updates, bet settlement confirmations and specific promotions.

Responsible Gambling Tools

DraftKings offers a number of responsible gambling tools which aim to protect users from overgambling. Some of the main tools available on the site are:

• Deposit Limits: Allows you to cap the maximum amount of money you can fund your account with on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
• Wager Limits: Lets you pick a maximum amount which you can spend at the operator in a given time period
• Time Limits: Restricts the total number of hours which you can spend logged into your account each day
• Self Exclusion: Temporarily locks you out of your account for a given time period.

All responsible gaming tools can be found in the “Responsible Gaming” section of the website or app.

Stand Out Feature: Cash Out Button

A stand out feature which we found to be extremely useful at DraftKings Alberta is their Cash Out Button. The Cash Out Button allows bettors to settle active bets for a guaranteed payout before the sporting event comes to a natural conclusion. The amount paid out will be based on the live odds at the time of buying out.

Cashing Out is ideal for bettors looking to lock in a profit if your team is winning or mitigate losses if you think your bet is a loss.
