London City Lionesses Overview

Spain icon Alexia Putellas has officially reclaimed her throne at the top of world football by securing a record-equalling third Ballon d'Or Feminin. The midfielder’s triumph ensures the prestigious award remains in Spanish hands for the sixth year in a row, following her heroics for Barcelona and the national team.

The Barcelona midfielder has won each of the last three prizes - but the 2026 accolade will go to someone else at Monday's ceremony in London after Bonmati's injury-hit campaign

Summer transfers for Alexia Putellas, Mapi Leon and Ona Batlle have added three more elite talents to the English top-flight, moves which only confirm the already popular belief that the WSL is the best women's league in the world
