Sean Dyche had to pull out of a community event which had named him as their guest of honour following his appointment as Nottingham Forest manager. The 54-year-old was scheduled to make a special appearance in his home town of Kettering but was forced to cancel after making an emotional return to the City Ground following Ange Postecoglou’s sacking.

Postecoglou's brief and bruising 39-day tenure produced no wins in eight games across all competitions. It was a miserable run that left Forest languishing in the relegation zone and their supporters furious.

Sean Dyche is reportedly now the front-runner to be named Nottingham Forest's new manager in the coming days, as owner Evangelos Marinakis looks to move quickly to bring in a replacement for Ange Postecoglou. The greek-Australian was sacked on Saturday just 18 minutes after Forest lost 3-0 at home to Chelsea, and this may have opened the door for Dyche to make a return to the Premier League.
