The Courage stumbled in Week 23, suffering a 3-1 defeat to Racing Louisville. Bright spark Manaka Matsukubo netted the lone goal, etching her name into the record books as the seventh-youngest player in NWSL history to reach 10 regular-season goals, joining the likes of Olivia Moultrie, Jaedyn Shaw, Trinity Rodman, Alyssa Thompson, Sam Kerr, and Diana Ordonez on that elite list. Defensively, Natalie Jacobs caught the eye as well, turning in a solid display at right back in her first start for the club.

Offensively, the Spirit boast firepower in abundance. Gift Monday leads the line with eight goals and two assists, while midseason pickup Sofia Cantore has added a spark in attack. Add in Trinity Rodman, who's shaken off her early-season injury woes, and this front line is as dynamic as any in the league.

Between the posts, Aubrey Kingsbury continues to be the backbone of Washington's defense. The veteran keeper has started all but one match this year, maintaining an impressive 73.9% save rate, a key reason why the Spirit look poised for a deep playoff run.
