Minnesota Vikings vs Baltimore Ravens Team News

The Vikings and Ravens are using this week's joint practices as a critical evaluation period, and both teams are featuring drastically different looks this year. The Ravens are breaking in new head coach Jesse Minter, who is tasked with maintaining an elite defense, while the Vikings are evaluating their new quarterback, Kyler Murray, who will be Minnesota's fourth season-opening starter in four years. Going up against two-time MVP Lamar Jackson in practice has provided an invaluable test for Minnesota’s defense before the live preseason game.

The biggest news coming out of Vikings camp is the loss of veteran safety Jamal Adams. Adams suffered a season-ending knee/quad injury after playing just 11 snaps in the preseason opener against the Giants and was officially placed on injured reserve. With a massive hole in a thin secondary, Minnesota has been giving first-team reps to undrafted free agent (UDFA) Jacob Thomas. Thomas had a breakout performance in the preseason opener with a fourth-quarter interception, and the coaching staff is using Lamar Jackson's passing attack to see if the rookie can handle top-tier competition.
