The Cincinnati Reds will turn once again to their electric star Elly De La Cruz as they aim to snap a mini skid against Marcell Ozuna and the struggling Atlanta Braves on Thursday.

The Braves are reeling after dropping their sixth contest in seven tries, falling in the middle game of their interleague set against the Kansas City Royals on Tuesday. It’s been a rough stretch for Atlanta, who entered Wednesday at 45-61, sitting fourth in the NL East and trailing the first-place Mets by a whopping 16 games.

Cincinnati hasn’t had much luck lately either. The Reds suffered their second consecutive loss Tuesday night, this time at the hands of the Dodgers at home. Despite the recent slide, the Reds still hold a 56-52 record and remain in the playoff conversation, currently third in the NL Central, though they sit 8.5 games behind division-leading Milwaukee.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch Cincinnati Reds vs Atlanta Braves MLB game, plus plenty more.

Cincinnati Reds vs Atlanta Braves team news

Cincinnati Reds team news

Elly De La Cruz continues to lead the charge offensively for the Reds, both with his bat and infectious energy. The young phenom enters Thursday’s game batting .282, with 18 homers and 68 RBIs, ranking 38th in MLB in home runs and 17th in runs batted in. He’s also on a two-game hitting streak, and over his past five games, he’s been scorching hot, batting .400 with four doubles, two walks, and three RBIs.

Spencer Steer has provided steady, if unspectacular, support, hitting .239 with 11 homers, 15 doubles, and a triple on the season. Matt McLain, despite his low average of .219, has shown a good eye at the plate, drawing 40 walks to go along with 11 home runs. Meanwhile, Austin Hays is swinging a hot bat for Cincinnati lately. He's batting .281 on the season and enters Thursday on a three-game hit streak, hitting .316 in his last five outings.

On the mound, lefty Andrew Abbott will take the ball for the Reds in what will be his 19th start of the season. Abbott has been sensational, posting an 8-1 record with a 2.09 ERA and a tidy 1.07 WHIP across 103.1 innings. He didn’t factor into the decision his last time out against the Rays but continued to display excellent control and mound presence.

Atlanta Braves team news

As for Atlanta, Matt Olson remains the team’s top power bat, with 18 home runs and 67 RBIs, ranking 38th and 18th in the majors in those categories. Marcell Ozuna, despite a modest .233 average, has belted 15 home runs and drawn 68 walks, providing some pop in the middle of the order. Ozzie Albies is batting just .221 but has chipped in with nine home runs and 43 walks, while Austin Riley leads the club with a .264 average.

Carlos Carrasco will make his Braves debut on Thursday, logging his ninth appearance and seventh start of the season. The veteran right-hander has had an up-and-down year, carrying a 2-2 record with a bloated 5.91 ERA and 1.53 WHIP through 32 innings. He’ll look to reset and find his groove in his new digs as Atlanta tries to right the ship.
