  • WHAT HAPPENED?

On Saturday, Monaco confirmed the arrival of Pogba on a free transfer, as the Frenchman committed his future to the Ligue 1 giants for two years. THE BIGGER PICTURE

The World Cup-winning France international was suspended after testing positive during a random check following Juventus’ 2023-24 season opener against Udinese. Initially handed a four-year suspension for the presence of DHEA, a substance that boosts testosterone and appears on the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned list, Pogba saw his punishment reduced to 18 months following an appeal.

The relief at finally ending his long search for a new club was evident when he put pen to paper at Monaco, as he could not hold back the tears.
