Following the embarrassing defeat to Reims, Rabiot didn’t mince words in a post-match interview with beIN Sports. The midfielder openly questioned the commitment of some of his teammates, suggesting that certain individuals appeared uninterested in the battle for Champions League qualification. Despite the criticism, Rabiot now insists his comments were not meant to cause division but rather to spark reflection and action.
"I've already spoken about it. There's no problem with anyone regarding what I've said. The players know very well what I want," he told reporters.
"And I'll say it again. Of course, I came here with very clear objectives. Those who are here must understand that they must have the same objectives as everyone else, as the club, as the management, as the coach, as the players."
Rabiot further explained that his remarks were partly aimed at younger players who may not yet grasp the significance of Champions League football - both for the club and for their own careers.
"We're here too, with our experience and our life, the oldest, to make them aware of these things. That it's a reality and that it's important for the club," he added. "But perhaps they haven't understood that going to the Champions League could also be important for them and for their future."
