Baltimore Ravens will kick-off their preseason with a home game against the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday.

It's the same story with the Baltimore Ravens—Super Bowl or bust. After falling just short in recent seasons, the bar in 2025 has been set sky-high: AFC title game or disappointment. Lamar Jackson is back following yet another MVP-worthy campaign, and the offense has been retooled to pack a serious punch. DeAndre Hopkins joins a receiving corps that already boasts Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and a healthy Mark Andrews. On paper, this unit looks stacked, if a bit top-heavy, but now it's time to deliver when it matters most.

Defensively, Baltimore will remain nasty and opportunistic under new DC Zach Orr, but it's the offense that needs to finish the job this time around. From both a fantasy and betting angle, this Ravens squad could be a goldmine. That said, it's worth noting that head coach John Harbaugh took a cautious approach last preseason—resting his core players, which led to a modest 1-2 record in exhibition play.

Meanwhile, all eyes are on Indianapolis, where the Colts are entering what feels like a make-or-break campaign. Both general manager Chris Ballard and head coach Shane Steichen are sitting on a warm seat, with owner Jim Irsay rumored to have considered major changes after last year's struggles.

The clock is ticking, Indy hasn't punched a playoff ticket since 2020 or tasted postseason victory since 2018. That drought might need to end if the current leadership hopes to stick around.

Baltimore Ravens vs Indianapolis Colts team news & stats

Baltimore Ravens team news

Over in Baltimore, don’t expect to see much — if any — of superstar QB Lamar Jackson , who remains the league’s most electrifying dual-threat. Veteran Cooper Rush, who started games for Dallas in 2024, will take the reins. He threw for 1,844 yards with a solid 12:5 TD-INT mark. Behind him is Devin Leary, who didn’t take a regular-season snap last year.

Derrick Henry headlines a deep Ravens backfield, but he’ll likely only see a few early reps. Expect a bigger workload for Justice Hill and Keaton Mitchell, who brings 426 career rushing yards into his third season. At receiver, Baltimore boasts a formidable trio: Zay Flowers (1,059 yards in 2024), Rashod Bateman, and newcomer DeAndre Hopkins, who still managed 600+ yards last year despite limited usage.

Defensively, the Ravens are reloading. After showing some cracks last season, they used their top four draft picks on defense. Rookie safety Malaki Starks is turning heads in camp and is expected to start immediately. Marlon Humphrey anchors the secondary, which gets a big lift from free-agent signing Jaire Alexander, the ex-Packers star who brings shutdown ability.

Baltimore put up a league-best 30.1 points per game (3rd) last year while allowing just 21.2 (8th), and they’re aiming to raise the bar even higher in 2025.

Indianapolis Colts team news

The Colts are heading into the season with a quarterback room that’s worth watching. Anthony Richardson remains the projected starter, but he’s still looking to find rhythm after an up-and-down campaign that saw him post an 8:12 TD-to-INT ratio. The team brought in veteran Daniel Jones, hoping he can provide some insurance after a rocky stint with the Giants. Jones tallied just 2,070 passing yards and a modest 8:7 TD-INT line last season. Rookie Riley Leonard out of Notre Dame slots in at QB3 and will likely get meaningful snaps in the preseason, while Jason Bean rounds out the depth chart.

The backfield is in solid shape, though Jonathan Taylor isn’t expected to suit up. Backup Khalil Herbert brings some juice, while rookie DJ Giddens — a fifth-rounder — should see plenty of action as he pushes for a role. Tyler Goodson is hanging onto the RB4 spot. At receiver, things drop off after Michael Pittman Jr., though both Alec Pierce and Josh Downs flashed breakout potential last year.

On the defensive side, Indy is banking on improvement under new coordinator Lou Anarumo after finishing 29th in yards allowed. They opened the checkbook to sign Charvarius Ward ($54M) and Cam Bynum ($60M), aiming to shore up a leaky secondary. Ward, despite his price tag, didn’t snag a single INT last year, but Bynum should provide a steadying presence after a strong stint in Minnesota.

Last year, the Colts were middle-of-the-pack offensively, averaging 22.2 points (16th), while giving up 25.1 points per game (24th).
