Everton and West Ham United are both hoping to bounce back from shaky starts in the Premier League Summer Series when they kick off Wednesday's slate at Soldier Field in Chicago.
The Toffees' preseason tour hasn't gone to plan so far, with a 3-0 thumping by Bournemouth following earlier disappointments, a 1-1 stalemate with Accrington and a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Blackburn. It's been a sluggish summer so far, and Everton will be eager to lift spirits and find some rhythm before the real action begins.

Team news & squads
West Ham team news
Graham Potter gave a first runout to youngster El Hadji Malick Diouf during their 2-1 loss to Manchester United, and more fresh faces could be introduced, with Kyle Walker-Peters in line for a debut after joining on a free transfer from Southampton.
Jarrod Bowen, who finished last season on fire with five goals and three assists in his last six outings, found the net again against United, and West Ham will be counting on him to be the creative spark, especially with Mohammed Kudus having made a summer move to Spurs and Crysencio Summerville sidelined through injury. If Bowen is deployed through the middle again, it leaves West Ham light out wide—an area Potter may look to strengthen before the new season kicks off in earnest.
Everton team news
Injuries have compounded their issues, with central defenders Jarrad Branthwaite, James Tarkowski, and Michael Keane all sidelined. That forced Nathan Patterson and Vitalii Mykolenko to fill in as part of an improvised back three, which looked out of sync, particularly in the second half against Bournemouth. It leaves David Moyes with a selection headache if none of his first-choice centre-backs return in time.
There were, however, glimpses of promise. Lewis Barry made his debut off the bench and brought some late energy, but with the game already beyond reach, there was little the Frenchman could do to turn the tide. Moyes was visibly frustrated, especially with the club’s lack of urgency in the transfer market, something he didn’t hide post-match.
