France will look to extend their perfect start to the 2026 World Cup qualifiers when they host Azerbaijan in Friday's Group D clash, a golden chance to make it three wins from three.
Les Bleus sit comfortably atop the group with six points, while Azerbaijan find themselves stuck at the bottom with just a single point to their name, two adrift of Iceland as the next round of fixtures looms.
Didier Deschamps' side may not have been firing on all cylinders in September, but they still found a way to get it done. A composed 2-0 victory over Ukraine was followed by a nervy yet decisive 2-1 win over Iceland, courtesy of second-half strikes from Kylian Mbappe and Bradley Barcola.
Having made it to three of the last four major tournament finals, France are expected to breeze through this qualification phase, though Deschamps will no doubt want to see a more clinical edge in front of goal.

Team news & squads
France team news
The hosts will be missing Aurelien Tchouameni, who is suspended after seeing red in the previous outing against Iceland. Injuries have also sidelined Bradley Barcola, Marcus Thuram, and Ousmane Dembele, forcing Deschamps to tinker with his lineup once again.
Adrien Rabiot is tipped to slot back into midfield, while Kingsley Coman and Hugo Ekitike could link up alongside Mbappe and Michael Olise in what promises to be an explosive attack.
Azerbaijan team news
For Azerbaijan, it's unlikely to be much deviation from their tried-and-tested formula. Renat Dadashov and Mahir Emreli, who have bagged 10 international goals between them, are expected to lead the line, while Emin Mahmudov, the country's all-time top scorer with 14 goals, should earn his 55th cap.
Anatolii Nuriiev is also likely to feature in midfield, with Rahman Dashdamirov potentially getting the nod as a right wing-back in what should be a compact five-man defensive setup.
