Club America and Queretaro FC square off this Sunday at Estadio Ciudad de los Deportes in the fourth round of the Liga MX Apertura.
America's recent form has been hit-and-miss, one win, three draws, and a loss in their last five outings, but they'll be hoping this clash can spark some momentum. Goals haven't been the problem, with the Eagles finding the net in all but two of their recent matches; it's their leaky backline that’s been the concern, having gone nine straight without a clean sheet.
For Queretaro, the picture is even bleaker. They opened the Apertura with back-to-back defeats and are still carrying the baggage from last season’s Clausura, where they limped to a 12th-place finish. Injuries and suspensions haven't helped matters, and confidence is running low.
History isn't on their side either — when these two met early in last year's Apertura, América ran out 3-1 winners, thanks to a Henry Martín brace.

Team news & squads
CF America team news
Henry Martín will miss this one with Achilles inflammation, forcing boss André Jardine to reshuffle his attack. Expect wingers Salvador Reyes and Alejandro Zendejas, along with playmaker Diego Valdés, to shoulder more of the creative and goal-scoring load. At the back, Sebastián Cáceres remains a steadying presence after coming through recent games unscathed.
Queretaro FC team news
Querétaro arrive with their own personnel headaches. Striker Jesús Hernández is sidelined, midfield anchor Kevin Escamilla is a major doubt after picking up an injury in the Leagues Cup, and Jonathan Perlaza is suspended following a red card. On top of that, a handful of former regulars are absent due to contract disputes or recent departures.
Manager Benjamín Mora has been forced into constant tactical tinkering, searching for a winning formula with a patched-up squad — not an ideal recipe when you’re heading into the lion’s den against América.
