'I'm not going through a good time' - £115m man Moises Caicedo opens up on struggles at Chelsea and explains decision to dramatically choose Blues over Liverpool

The Ecuadorian midfielder has struggled to find his feet at Stamford Bridge since his record £115m ($144m) move from Brighton in the summer.

He recently opened up about his struggles at his new club after achieving immense success with the Seagulls last season and also revealed why he decided to join Chelsea over Liverpool.

Speaking to Telemundo Network, the 22-year-old said, "In such a short time I have had a lot of success. At a young age I achieved many things, my selection, in Brighton; It hasn't been seen now because I just arrived. Football always gives this, ups and downs. Now I think that the club and I are not going through a good moment, but I'm calm because I knew that this could come. I must be mentally strong. The same people who put you up, bring you down. I have understood and I have not let myself be carried away by anyone's flattery. I always worked for myself, I know how good I am, and if my family knows that, it's enough for me.

"My mentality has always been a winner. Always be there, win games, win duels in the center of the field, be everywhere. I get upset with myself because I would like to show, but football is like that sometimes. It takes time to adapt to the club and it is a little more pressure, but I have known how to handle that. I have felt good about myself, I always want to win, for the team to be good, but now unfortunately we are not going through a good moment."

He added, "I wanted to come here because they had shown me that they really loved me. It was something very nice for me, I decided quickly and said yes. The DT speaks my language and my relationship with him is easier. It's very good. It was a little easier to join here. He is watching over us. More than all, I was the last one to arrive. I didn't have a good preseason, he has protected me and I value that."

Since he arrived at the club, the former Brighton star has appeared in 17 out of the 18 matches Chelsea have played thus far across all competitions but is yet to score or provide an assist for a goal in the ongoing season.

The Blues have had a difficult start to their campaign as they currently find themselves 12th in the league. Jurgen Klopp's side, on the other hand, are at the top of the table with 37 points from their first 16 matches.

Caicedo and Chelsea will aim to get back to winning ways after back-to-back defeats against Manchester United and Everton, as they take on rock-bottom side Sheffield United on Saturday.
