  • WHAT HAPPENED?

The NFL has issued its verdict on Jalen Carter after his ugly Week 1 incident involving Dak Prescott.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles’ defensive tackle was slapped with a steep $57,222 fine for spitting on the Cowboys quarterback.

Carter, however, won't face additional time on the sidelines. The league ruled that his ejection, which came before Dallas even ran its first offensive play, was punishment enough. Schefter also reported that Carter has no plans to challenge the decision.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Jalen Carter's night ended before it really began, as the Eagles’ All-Pro tackle was tossed prior to the Cowboys' very first snap on Thursday.

Carter claimed he reacted because he thought Dak Prescott had spit toward him and Philadelphia’s huddle, though the Dallas quarterback has flat-out denied it.

Leading up to Week 2, plenty of chatter swirled about whether the league might sideline Jalen Carter under its renewed push for stronger sportsmanship. In the end, the NFL did hand him a suspension of sorts—but one that won’t keep him out of Sunday’s clash with the Chiefs in Kansas City.

    WHAT NEXT FOR CARTER?

Now the focus shifts to Sunday's primetime showdown in Kansas City. The Chiefs, coming off a sluggish opener in Brazil against the Chargers, won't be thrilled to see a disruptive force like Carter lining up opposite them. His fine may sting, but with Philadelphia victorious in Week 1, Carter will be back wreaking havoc in Week 2.
