  • WHAT HAPPENED?

According to Tuttosport, the two clubs are considering a swap deal, allowing Juventus, who signed Vlahovic for €70 million plus bonuses in January 2022, to recoup their investment and AC Milan to make a significant capital gain.

The main sticking point is the difference in salary: Hernandez earns €4.5m net plus bonuses, while the Juventus striker earns €12m including bonuses. In other words, from the Serbian's point of view, a significant pay cut would be necessary.

    THE VLAHOVIC SITUATION

Equally complicated is the situation involving Vlahovic. The Serbian striker, who has been sidelined for the last six months of the season, has been in a deep stalemate for some time now in negotiations to renew his contract, which expires in 2026. His net salary is too high an obstacle to overcome, given that the player and his entourage have repeatedly rejected any attempt to spread it over several seasons to reduce the burden on the balance sheet.

Hence the need to find a solution, but to date – apart from an offer from Fenerbahce – no top foreign club has shown concrete interest in the Serbian striker. Milan remain in the background, thanks to Massimiliano Allegri's approval, who would gladly return to work with him.

  • THE FUTURE OF HERNANDEZ

Hernandez's contract with Milan expires in the summer of 2026, and attempts to negotiate a possible renewal have been stalled for some time. Milan were close to formalising the sale of the full-back at the beginning of the month after a €35m agreement with Al-Hilal, but the player rejected the move.

The player was then close to returning to Madrid, but this time to Atletico. Despite Hernandez's openness, Atletico and Milan were never able to reach a preliminary agreement, and the Rossoneri's demands clashed with the Spanish team's offer, which was considered too low.

    WHAT NEXT?

Milan are desperate to offload Hernandez this summer as he faces being sidelined for the entire season due to his contract expiring next summer. Swapping him for a striker like Vlahovic may be their only option.
