This evening’s NCAA football game between SEC rival Alabama Crimson Tide and Georgia Bulldogs comes with extra winnings for registering users through the FanDuel Sportsbook bonus offer.
Most of the eye-popping lines at a sportsbook involve wide spreads and lopsided handicaps, such as Arsenal’s minus-odds to win continental games after failing to beat Sunderland in domestic play. This evening’s attention grabber is different. Georgia’s (-3) point spread against Alabama is a handicapper’s “punt” based on old information, not the 2025 season in which UGA is better.
Georgia is only a (-160) moneyline favorite over visiting Alabama, for a Southeastern Conference game set to kick off between the hedges on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Time.
Alabama and Georgia are evenly matched programs who are often found fighting each other for an SEC title or a national championship in the College Football Playoff. But the Crimson Tide began the 2025-26 season by losing to a 20-point underdog in the Florida State Seminoles. Since then, boosters have called for head coach Kalen DeBoer’s firing, dreading the SEC battles to come like tonight’s.
Bama got a boost from a heartening win over Wisconsin in Week 3. QB Ty Simpson had an excellent day passing the ball, throwing for four TDs to compensate for a Tide ground game that went nowhere fast. In fact, Simpson led Alabama with 25 rush yards. A vintage Alabama defensive performance saved the day, holding Wisconsin to minimal games and snagging INTs in a 38-14 victory.
Meanwhile, though, the Georgia Bulldogs showed uncanny resilience in defeating a much tougher foe, conquering Tennessee 44-41 in a Week 3 overtime. Georgia’s ensemble cast on offense, which produced no 75+ yard running backs against the Volunteers, could be a sneaky weapon in this evening’s game as Alabama has no “Nick Chubb” to key on in the UGA backfield. Georgia’s performance on defense is stronger than current SEC team rankings are illustrating.
Georgia’s pass rush didn’t do a whole lot against Tennessee, an angle of concern for those hoping to see UGA cover the spread against Alabama’s dicey-but-dangerous attack. But against FSU, the Alabama passing game stopped itself. Simpson will be swimming in third-down-and-long if his squad’s tailbacks don’t improve behind an inconsistent OL, facing Georgia’s massive D-line.
Look for the Georgia Bulldogs to cover (-3) points on home turf tonight.
