Univision announces deal to broadcast Liga MX games live on Facebook

Univision has announced an agreement to stream Liga MX games in English to U.S.-based users via Facebook Live this year.

The network will stream will stream 46 Liga MX matches, including playoff games in 2017 via Facebook Live. The first game of the deal will be this Saturday, with America taking on archrival Chivas in the Super Clasico at 10:00 p.m. ET.

“TV options have evolved from broadcast to cable to SVOD (subscription video on demand). Now Facebook represents the next wave of TV and, given its scale, they are an ideal partner to distribute our Liga MX matches in English,” Univision Communications Inc. chief commercial officer and president of content distribution Tonia O’Connor said in a news release.

Games will be streamed real-time on the Univision Deportes Facebook page and via Facebook’s video tab.
