Majeed Waris returns to action for Lorient

Ghanaian attacker Abdul Majeed Waris made his return to action with Ligue 2 side Lorient on Monday evening.

This was the first time that the Ghanaian forward was seen in Les Merlus' colours this season and it was no surprise that he looked out of shape as he appeared to have picked up some weight.

The 26-year-old appears to have put behind his transfer fiasco as he returned to action in Lorient's shocking 3-2 loss at Le Havre.

He was introduced in the 64th minute of the encounter but he was unable to help Lorient avoid defeat. He did, however, show glimpses of his true potential with some deft touches on a few occasions but lacked his usual sharpness and evidently match fitness.

Waris returned to Lorient after his move to English Premier League side Swansea City fell through and he told reporters soon after the game that he is fully focused on helping Lorient return to the top tier after their relegation last season.

“I am back and committed to helping the club return to where we belong,” he told reporters after the game.

His lack of action also cost him a place in the Black Stars roaster for the ongoing 2018 World Cup Qualifiers. Ghana next take on Uganda in Kampala on Saturday.
