Japan Women vs England Women Betting Tips: Latest odds, team news, preview and predictions

Narrow wins over Scotland and Japan mean England are already assured of a place in the last 16 of the Women's World Cup.

Phil Neville's side know that a point against Argentina will be good enough to top Group D regardless of how the other game finishes.

Latest Odds

It's no surprise to see England priced as favourites for this game although the Even money (2.0) quote from bet365 is bigger than punters might usually expect.

Neville may choose to rotate his side for the Wednesday's clash in Nice and it's 23/10 (3.30) that the teams end all square.

Japan are 11/4 (3.75) to come out on top, a result that would see Asako Takakura's side top the group.

Team News

Given a place in the knockout stages is already assured, it could well be a rotated England side that takes to the pitch at the Allianz Riviera.

Jodie Taylor should retain her spot though after returning to the starting line-up against Argentina to great effect. Despite a tricky patch of form since winning the Golden Boot award at Euro 2017, Taylor got on the scoresheet in Le Havre to seal three points.

Mana Iwabuchi was one of the players brought into Japan's starting line-up after the 0-0 draw with Argentina in their opening game. The Bayern Munich forward broke the deadlock against Scotland and should retain her place for this game.

Preview

While England have collected maximum points so far, their performances have left a little to be desired, particularly in the final third.

bet365 aren't expecting a glut of action in the final third here either. Over 2.5 goals is priced at 7/5 (2.40) while both teams to score is 11/10 (2.10).

Japan will look to their 2-1 win over the Lionesses at the 2015 World Cup for inspiration, but their recent form suggests the underdogs will have their work cut out.

Predictions

The 2-1 win over Scotland was the first time Japan had come out on top in six international outings.

These teams met at the SheBelieves Cup just three months ago as England cruised to a 3-0 win in Florida. Their price that day was around 4/6 (1.67).

While Neville may opt to utilise his squad there are plenty of capable players waiting in the wings. The Lionesses look worthy favourites to continue their winning run and at a much better quote than the previous head-to-head clash.

The margin of victory is unlikely to be as comfortable as it was in March, but there is plenty to like about backing England at Even money (2.0) to secure three points.
