Marcus Rashford has arrived in Barcelona ahead of completing a season-long loan move to the Spanish champions from Manchester United. The Catalan giants, who are in search of a new left winger, agreed to sign the attacker temporarily but with an option to make the transfer permanent next season.
Wojciech Szczesny may have helped Barcelona to a historic domestic treble last season, but the veteran goalkeeper isn’t a fan of the ultra-attacking approach under new manager Hansi Flick. The 35-year-old admitted the system doesn’t suit him, as his aging legs have to do a lot of work in behind a uber-high defensive line commandeered by the likes of Pau Cubarsi and Inigo Martinez.
Marcus Rashford was handed his first La Liga start for Barcelona on Saturday but lasted only 45 minutes as Hansi Flick opted to replace the Manchester United loanee at half-time during their dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against Levante. Despite a bright opening spell, Rashford was withdrawn with the Blaugrana trailing 2-0 at the break before a late fightback secured all three points.
