The Kansas City Current have become the fastest team to win the NWSL Shield after extending their winning streak to 14 matches. The Current beat Seattle Reign FC 2-0 on Saturday to secure the title with five games to spare in the 2025 season. This was the club's first major trophy since being formed in 2020.
NWSL veteran Savannah DeMelo collapsed shortly before half time of Racing Louisville's fixture with Seattle Reign on Sunday, with the match subsequently suspended. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, and was "stable and alert" later on Sunday, according to club officials. The 27-year-old has battled Graves disease and hyperthyroidism.
