How to watch today's Universitario de Deportes vs Palmeiras Copa Libertadores game: Live stream, TV channel, and start time

Peruvian powerhouse Universitario scraped their way into the 2025 Copa Libertadores knockouts and now face the daunting task of taking on a formidable Palmeiras outfit.

For Universitario, this marks a long-awaited return to the business end of South America's top club competition, their first appearance in the knockout stages since 2010, when they suffered penalty shootout heartbreak against São Paulo. This time around, they punched their ticket by finishing second in a fiercely competitive group alongside River Plate, Independiente del Valle, and Barcelona SC, collecting eight points in the process. Having ended that 15-year wait, the Peruvians will be determined to seize the moment and make their mark.

Standing in their way is a true continental giant. Palmeiras, three-time Libertadores champions and winners as recently as 2021, breezed through the group stage in flawless fashion, six wins from six, 17 goals scored, and just four conceded against Cerro Porteño, Bolívar, and Sporting Cristal. The Verdão also carried South America's flag at the Club World Cup, reaching the quarter-finals before bowing out to eventual champions Chelsea. Their recent Copa do Brasil exit could prove a silver lining, freeing them to go all-in on the Brasileirão and another shot at continental glory.

History also tilts heavily in the Brazilians’ favor. In their 2021 title run, Palmeiras dismantled Universitario 6-0 in São Paulo and claimed a 3-2 win in Lima. Whoever comes through this clash will meet either Libertad Asunción or River Plate in the quarter-finals.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch, including TV channel, streaming details and more.

Universitario de Deportes team news

Universitario have been running on pure grit and determination, silencing critics of their playing style by storming to the top of the table with their latest triumph. That hard-earned victory has injected a fresh wave of confidence through the camp, but they’ll need every drop of that fighting spirit when they lock horns with a heavyweight Palmeiras outfit.

Their preparations, however, have been hampered by the absence of veteran striker Diego Churín, who has been sidelined with a muscle injury since late June. The 35-year-old has already missed eight matches, leaving a noticeable gap in their attacking options.

Palmeiras team news

Over in Brazil, Palmeiras are riding a new wave of momentum after shaking off a frustrating slump with a gutsy 2-1 win over Ceará. Reports suggest the squad has been sharpening their tactics at their training base, hinting they’re ready to hit the ground running when the whistle blows. Even so, Abel Ferreira's side is managing a lengthy injury list.

Playmaker Raphael Veiga is battling a groin problem, while defender Bruno Fuchs nurses a thigh strain. Midfield dynamo Paulinho is sidelined with a shin injury, and forward Figueiredo is in long-term recovery from a cruciate ligament tear. To make matters worse, attacker Bruno Rodrigues remains out with a knee issue. Despite these setbacks, Palmeiras appear poised to throw everything they have into this continental showdown.
