How to watch today's Chivas vs Charlotte Leagues Cup game: Live stream, TV channel, and start time

Charlotte FC is set to wrap up the second leg of its Leagues Cup triple-header at Bank of America Stadium this Sunday, welcoming Mexican powerhouse Chivas de Guadalajara to town.

Chivas rolled into New York aiming to pounce on a struggling New York Red Bulls side that had dropped three of its last four in MLS play. Fresh off a confidence-boosting Liga MX performance, where they lit up the scoreboard with four goals for the first time in 2025, expectations were high that the Mexican giants would at least find the net at Red Bull Arena. But once again, their finishing in the final third left much to be desired.

Despite peppering the Red Bulls' defense with long-range efforts, most from about 20 yards out, nothing found the back of the net. Their attacking moves lacked cohesion, and when they needed composure the most, they came up empty. To make matters worse, the match ended in heartbreak, with Emil Forsberg curling home a last-minute free kick to snatch all three points for New York on the final play.

Dropping the opening match in the Leagues Cup can be a near-death sentence for advancement, and Chivas now face a do-or-die clash against a Charlotte FC team sitting seventh in the MLS standings. The pressure is on.

Charlotte, for their part, were stunned by FC Juárez in a shock 4-1 defeat that left bettors scratching their heads. Perhaps they chose to shift focus back to their MLS push, where they had been red-hot, riding a four-game winning streak and climbing firmly into playoff territory, but they now run the risk of losing that momentum altogether.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch, including TV channel, streaming details and more.

CD Guadalajara team news

Chivas de Guadalajara suffered a gut-punch of their own in their group-stage opener. A stoppage-time free kick from Emil Forsberg sealed a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls, leaving the Liga MX giants with little margin for error.

Now, the 12-time Mexican champions are staring at a must-win scenario. With just four teams per league reaching the quarterfinals, Chivas know they'll need all three points when they square off against Charlotte before closing out the phase against FC Cincinnati on August 7.

Chivas' attack will be familiar to MLS fans, with Cade Cowell (formerly of San Jose Earthquakes) and Alan Pulido (ex-Sporting KC) leading the line. Richard Ledezma and Daniel Aguirre, both MLS alums, also featured in the opener. One setback, though—Omar Govea picked up a knock in training and is expected to miss out.

Charlotte FC team news

Charlotte FC will be eager to turn the page after suffering a humbling 4-1 defeat to FC Juárez in their Leagues Cup opener. Once riding high on a four-game MLS winning streak, The Crown was unable to contain their Liga MX visitors and now face added pressure heading into Sunday's clash.

Their challenge grows steeper with Idan Toklomati suspended after receiving a red card in the 80th minute of that loss. The forward had stepped up brilliantly in Patrick Agyemang's absence, bagging six goals in his last eight outings across all competitions, but now leaves a noticeable gap up front.

The question now is whether Designated Player Wilfried Zaha and creative spark Pep Biel can shoulder the load. Head coach Dean Smith will be counting on both to rise to the occasion before Charlotte wraps up Phase One against CF Monterrey on August 7.
