How to watch today's Brazil U20 vs Mexico U20 World Cup U20 game: Live stream, TV channel, and start time

The South American U20 Championship earlier this year didn't exactly go according to plan for Brazil U20. The Selecao looked underwhelming for stretches, but they still managed to claw their way through, and in typical Brazilian fashion, finished by lifting the trophy.

Now the Canarinha set their sights on the Chile 2025 U20 World Cup, opening their Group C campaign against Mexico U20. It's a tricky pool that also features Spain U20 and Morocco U20, but Brazil enter as favorites with history and pedigree on their side.

The five-time champions are hunting a sixth crown, their last dating back to 2011. This clash with Mexico will be their fifth head-to-head on the U20 World Cup stage, and here’s the kicker: Brazil have never lost to El Tri at this level, winning two of the previous four encounters.

Momentum is also in their corner. Brazil march into Santiago on the back of three consecutive friendly wins over Paraguay and Saudi Arabia, extending their unbeaten streak to 10 matches, with only three ending in stalemates.

For Mexico U20, the story is different. Their peak at this stage came in 1977, when they reached the final only to fall short against Russia. Since then, it's been a tale of flashes rather than firepower. Against Brazil, the record makes for grim reading: eight previous meetings, and just one win, a friendly that hardly carries the same weight as a World Cup night.

El Tri would love nothing more than to flip the script in Santiago, especially after their humiliating 6-0 thumping by Argentina U20 in the opening round of qualifiers. They only scraped into the Final Hexagonal thanks to Ecuador's stalemate with Argentina on the final day. By contrast, Brazil wrapped up third place in the group with six points, two ahead of Ecuador, who edged them on goal difference.

Here, GOAL brings you everything you need to know about how to watch, including TV channel, streaming details and more.

Brazil U20 team news

The only tweak to the original list announced by Brazil came with the removal of Felipe Longo from Corinthians.

Initially called up as the direct backup to Hugo Souza, the youngster was later dropped from the squad. In his place, Pedro Cobra of Atlético Mineiro was handed an opportunity to step into the fold.

A few names had already been scratched off by their clubs before the call-up drama even began. Chief among them was Rayan, Vasco's rising star and first-choice starter, who never had a shot at joining up this time around.

Mexico U20 team news

At just 19, Elias Montiel already carries himself like a seasoned veteran in Mexico’s U20 squad. The Pachuca midfield anchor has racked up over 5,000 minutes in Liga MX, a staggering workload for someone barely out of his teens. His steady rise has not gone unnoticed either; clubs like Ajax and Braga circled in the summer, and it's a safe bet that a fresh wave of European scouts will have eyes glued to him throughout this tournament.

On the other side of the border, Obed Vargas heads into the U20 World Cup as one of MLS's brightest prospects.
