The Tennessee Titans (1-1) wrap up their preseason slate on Friday night under the primetime lights, hosting the Minnesota Vikings (1-1) at Nissan Stadium. Kickoff in Nashville is set for 8 pm ET on Aug. 22.
Mike Vrabel's squad returns home after a grueling 10-day road swing that saw them square off with both the Buccaneers and Falcons. The trip kicked off in Tampa, where a single joint practice preceded a lopsided 29-7 loss on Aug. 9. From there, the Titans flew straight to Atlanta, capped the week with two more joint sessions, and then edged the Falcons 23-20 in a Friday night thriller.

Tennessee Titans vs Minnesota Vikings team news
Tennessee Titans team news
All eyes have been on rookie quarterback Cam Ward, the No. 1 overall pick in April’s draft. Ward has been handed the reins early, starting both preseason contests so far. Through two outings, he’s gone 7-of-15 for 109 yards. Against Atlanta, he worked the first three drives, completing just two of seven passes but flashing his big arm on a 35-yard strike to fellow rookie wideout Elic Ayomanor.
Veteran backup Brandon Allen took over after Ward, delivering a sharp performance. He connected on 11-of-14 throws for 119 yards, tossing a 25-yard touchdown to fourth-round tight end Gunnar Helm, though he was also picked off once. His passer rating of 96.1 highlighted an efficient night. On defense, safety Kendell Brooks lit up the scoreboard early, jumping a route for a 53-yard pick-six that gave Tennessee the game’s first points.
Minnesota Vikings team news
On the other sideline, Kevin O’Connell is entering Year 4 in charge of the Vikings. O’Connell has already carved out a place in team history, posting a 34-17 record and becoming the first Minnesota head coach to register multiple 13-win seasons, including 14 victories just last year.
The Vikings’ future at quarterback rests on the shoulders of J.J. McCarthy, the former Michigan standout taken in the first round of the 2024 draft. McCarthy’s rookie campaign was derailed before it even began when he landed on injured reserve, but he’s back on the field this preseason. He opened Minnesota’s exhibition slate by completing 4-of-7 passes for 30 yards in a win over Houston before sitting out last week’s 20-12 home loss to New England.
