Man Utd and Arsenal target Jorginho waiting on offers for summer switch

Napoli midfielder Jorginho is waiting on offers, says his agent, with a move to Manchester United or Arsenal a possibility in the summer window.

The 26-year-old Brazil-born Italy international has been mooted as a long-term successor to Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.

United will be in the market for somebody to fill that role come the end of the season, with the long-serving star heading towards the exits.

Jorginho is among the options being considered and his representative admits all proposals will be considered as his client seeks to impress on domestic and international stages.

Joao Santos told Tuttomercatoweb: “Jorginho wants to play for the national team again and be there for the friendly against England [on March 27].

“That is his objective, alongside winning with Napoli.

“He is currently in Brazil and will return to Italy this weekend. When it comes to the January transfer window, we’re not talking about anything.

“In June, and this is true of all players, we’ll see what offers arrive. From February 1, it all begins again.”

Jorginho has been with Napoli since January 2014 and is fast closing in on 150 appearances for the club.

It is his ability to pull the strings in the middle of the park which has brought him to United’s attention, with the Red Devils eager to find another calming influence to fill Carrick’s boots.

Arsenal have also been regularly linked with an approach for a proven performer, so it could be that a transfer scramble is sparked once the January window comes to a close.

Anybody wishing to secure Jorginho’s signature is, however, likely to have to dig deep as he remains under contract in Italy until 2020.
