1. TORONTO FC

TFC has the most points in MLS and has established the fastest six-game winning streak in MLS history. It's only fair that the Reds have finally claimed the top spot after an impressive run.
2. FC DALLAS
LAST WEEK: 1
CHANGE: -1
Dallas held on to the top spot from our pre-season rankings until this week and remains the lone undefeated team in the league. We wouldn't be surprised if this team reclaims the perch in the near future.
3. NEW YORK CITY FC

Patrick Vieira's side has been putting together a string of impressive performances lately, the most recent of which saw NYCFC grab a result in Dallas.
4. SPORTING KANSAS CITY

The stingiest team in MLS opened things up a bit in Week 11 and came away with the first ever point for an away side at Orlando City Stadium.
5. PORTLAND TIMBERS
LAST WEEK: 5

The Timbers have cooled off in the past couple of weeks, but are still performing well enough to keep themselves in the upper echelon.
6. HOUSTON DYNAMO

Another home game, another victory. If the Dynamo could play all of their matches at BBVA Compass Stadium they'd easily be the best team in the league.
7. ORLANDO CITY

Another team that enjoys home cooking, went toe-to-toe with with SKC and walked away with an entertaining draw. It's not the best result, but it still shows that Jason Kreis' men can compete with anyone in MLS.
8. CHICAGO FIRE

The biggest crowd of the season at Toyota Park was treated to the most decisive victory of 2017 for the Fire. When this reconstructed Chicago team is on, it can do some real damage.
9. COLUMBUS CREW

Columbus showed more of the inconsistency that has plagued it recently, dropping a 2-1 loss at home to TFC midweek before going to Montreal and riding Justin Meram to a 3-2 victory.
10. SEATTLE SOUNDERS

Does an MLS Cup hangover really last this long? The Sounders are all out of sorts right now, with a tough trip to Kansas City looming.
11. NEW YORK RED BULLS

Nothing seems to be working for Jesse Marsch and the Red Bulls these days, and a three-game losing streak could very well be extended with TFC visiting on Friday.
12. ATLANTA UNITED

A draw at Portland is a good result for a formerly high-flying Atlanta side that needed a positive match to get back on track.
13. MONTREAL IMPACT
LAST WEEK: 11
CHANGE: -2
Averaging just a point per game and tied for bottom in the East, the Impact are lucky to be this high in our rankings. Their saving grace is a home-heavy schedule over the next few matchdays.
14. SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES

It feels like the Quakes undid all the positivity they were building by getting blown out in Colorado by a struggling Rapids side. Let's hope for San Jose that this was just a blip.
15. LA GALAXY
LAST WEEK: 18
CHANGE: +3
Unbeaten in three and riding the wave created by stellar newcomer Romain Alessandrini, the Galaxy have shown signs of life lately. Is it enough?
16. NEW ENGLAND REVOLUTION
USA TodayLAST WEEK: 19
CHANGE: +3
A good shellacking can boost even the poorest performing team, and the Revolution delivered a genuine rout of RSL after stumbling along themselves in recent weeks. Now the Revs need to do it against better teams.
17. PHILADELPHIA UNION

CHANGE: +3
Just when it seemed like the Union had reached rock bottom, Jim Curtin's men come through with consecutive blowouts of Eastern Conference foes. The lopsided victories aren't sustainable, of course, but maybe the winning mentality is?
18. MINNESOTA UNITED
LAST WEEK: 17
CHANGE: -1
There's no shame in going toe-to-toe with the hottest team in the league and coming out the slight loser. The Loons are increasingly showing that they belong.
19. VANCOUVER WHITECAPS
USA TODAY SportsLAST WEEK: 16
CHANGE: -3
A small run of positive results was undone by a hot Houston side, but the Whitecaps have demonstrated that they will compete more often than not.
20. D.C. UNITED
USA TODAY SportsLAST WEEK: 15
CHANGE: -5
It's bad enough losing at home to a conference rival, but getting run off the pitch in the manner that D.C. did justifies a huge drop in the rankings.
21. COLORADO RAPIDS

CHANGE: +1
OK, a 3-0 win over San Jose was a great morale booster, but there's a reason this Rapids team is propping up the rest of the table. If there's any reason for hope in Colorado, it's the fact that the Rapids have played the fewest number of games in MLS so far.
22. REAL SALT LAKE
LAST WEEK: 21
CHANGE: -1
RSL is in the midst of a four-game losing streak in which it has lost by a combined 13-1 scoreline and the Utah side currently sports the worst points-per-game average in the entire league. This spot is entirely justified.
