The Tennessee Titans and Atlanta Falcons will both be hunting for their first preseason victory when they square off at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Friday night, with kickoff set for 7 p.m. ET.

Tennessee's preseason opener was one to forget, as they were routed by a Buccaneers side that didn't even roll out its starters. With just seven points on the board and a meager 201 total yards of offense, the Titans will be eager to right the ship and shake off that sluggish start.

Atlanta fared slightly better in their own first outing but still came up short against the Lions. Much like Tennessee, the Falcons struggled to get their offense firing, mustering only 207 total yards in a performance that left plenty to be desired.

Atlanta Falcons vs Tennessee Titans team news

Atlanta Falcons team news

Atlanta opted to keep their starters in bubble wrap for the opener, but they’re expected to get some live reps this time around — a boost the Falcons hope will push them toward their first preseason win. The offense sputtered last week, posting only 10 points with 185 passing yards and a mere 22 on the ground.

Easton Stick was razor-sharp, connecting on 83% of his throws for 149 yards and a touchdown, while Emory Jones was nearly as accurate, going 80% for 49 yards. Nathan Carter carried the bulk of the rushing load, churning out 22 yards on just three carries.

Defensively, Atlanta put up a respectable fight, limiting the Lions to 17 points. While the run defense showed some cracks, the secondary held firm and made life difficult for Detroit’s passing game.

Tennessee Titans team news

Top draft pick Cameron Ward made a solid first impression in limited snaps, going 5-for-8 through the air for 67 yards. Brandon Allen had a mixed outing, hitting 50% of his passes for 62 yards but also tossing an interception. The Titans’ ground attack never found its stride, grinding out just 66 yards on 21 attempts, with Kalel Mullings leading the way at 33 yards on seven carries.

Defensively, Tennessee left a lot to be desired — especially considering they were facing mostly backups. The run defense was particularly leaky, surrendering a staggering 177 rushing yards at an eye-watering 9.8 yards per carry. Shoring up that front will be critical if they want any shot at turning things around this week.
